Static website vs WordPress for a small business

A static website delivers pages that are already built. A content management system such as WordPress gives people a publishing interface and commonly uses a database, themes and plugins to manage the website.

“Static” does not mean the content must stay the same. It describes how the site is delivered. The pages can be changed and published again as the business develops. Likewise, “WordPress” does not identify one maintenance arrangement: self-hosting, WordPress.com and provider-managed setups divide the work differently.

For a service page that explains your work and invites contact, either approach can be useful. The next question is how the website will be changed and who will take care of it.

With direct WordPress publishing, you or your provider can work in the CMS. That can suit a team that wants an active publishing workflow. Someone still needs to own the surrounding updates, backups, configuration and content decisions; a managed provider may cover some or much of that.

We remediate problems in our controlled code and assets. Degradation caused by external services, outages, embeds, externally hosted assets or client-added code outside our control is excluded. A small firm with mostly service explanations, team information, guides and contact pages may not need a broad CMS ecosystem. A team that wants direct CMS publishing, extensive dynamic functionality or specialized plugin workflows may have good reasons to choose WordPress and a maintenance arrangement that fits.
